Job summary:
The HR Generalist/ Recruiter provides human resources and recruiting services to support the smooth and efficient operations of the organization's Human Resource department. You will play a crucial role in assisting with HR-related activities, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and contributing to the overall success of the HR team.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Prepare and distribute HR-related correspondence, such as offer letters, employment contracts, and HR policies.
· Maintain and update employee databases and HR software systems.
· Respond to internal and external HR-related inquiries in a timely manner.
· Manage and organize HR files, records, and documents.
· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws.
· Update, track, and follow DOT, FMLA, OSHA, and BWC regulations.
· Assist in preparing reports and data analysis related to HR metrics and trends.
· Act as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related queries and issues.
· Assist in resolving minor employee concerns and escalate more complex issues to HR management.
· Schedule, communicate, execute, and attend all company events, meetings, and training sessions.
· Maintain social media and digital signage platforms.
Back-up Support Duties/Responsibilities:
· Available, as needed, for after-hours, weekends, and holiday HR/Recruitment calls utilizing various channels, including online job boards, social media platforms, and industry-specific networks, to source potential candidates for both driver and onsite positions.
· Screen resumes, conduct interviews, and assess candidates' qualifications, skills, and experience.
· Collaborate with hiring managers and supervisors to understand their specific requirements and align recruitment efforts accordingly.
· Coordinate pre-employment procedures, such as background checks, drug testing, and reference verifications.
· Organize new hire orientation schedules and accurately distribute materials to attendees.
· Effectively coordinate travel arrangements, encompassing tasks such as arranging rental cars and securing hotel accommodations.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records in the applicant tracking system using DriverReach and other applicable software systems.
· Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
· Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, integrity, and diplomacy.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting/standing and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a time.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
· Proven experience in HR administrative support role, preferably in the logistics or transportation industry, or a keen ability and willingness to learn.
· Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
· Proficiency in HRIS systems and other HR software applications.
· Professional certifications in HR (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) are a plus.
